THE MORLOCH FIELD GUIDE

Twelve peoples.
A thousand rivalries.

Explore every playable race, from the stone-born Dwarves to the winged Nephilim. This guide combines Morloch’s race pages with its People, Ways, and lore articles, plus preserved visual references.

These are historical and community-maintained reference values, not a verified specification of the current Lakebane server. Class restrictions, racial grants, equipment rules, and charters must be checked in-game before planning a build around them.

Compare the foundations.

Each cell shows starting value / racial maximum. Optional runes and other build choices are separate.

Between two inheritances

Aelfborn

Born to Human and Elf parents, Aelfborn combine pointed ears and elven features with a sturdier human frame. Magical tattoos are a defining visual tradition, intended to restrain the mysterious Curse.

Historical race illustration of Aelfborn
Historical race illustration · Morloch Wiki

People & culture

Outsiders to both parent cultures, they find refuge among some woodland orders, religious communities, and Amazons. Later stories describe independent communities and the Briar King; older accounts emphasize isolation.

Recognize the race

Pale golden skin, prominent pointed ears, varied hair, and a build between Human and Elf. Tattoos may cover a shaved scalp as well as the body.

Proposed composition: A tattooed ranger or disciplined blade fighter outside a forest refuge, with weathered mixed-culture equipment. Make the face and proportions visibly distinct from a pure Elf.

Keep it recognizable: Do not assume every Aelfborn is a feral berserker.

Wings above the battlements

Aracoix

Avian warriors with hawklike heads, feathered bodies, muscular arms, and separate wings. Their homeland lies beyond Aerynth, and their disciplined communities organize around the Kh’ree and its strict Law.

Aeries favor towers, landing platforms, and gate-less compounds. Imperial duty and coordinated warfare dominate traditional society, while younger exiles reject the Law and live among other peoples.

Honor carried on four hooves

Centaur

The horse-bodied children of Kenaryn combine human torsos with powerful equine bodies. Cohorts, sacred obligations, competition, and a long alliance with Humans shape their identity.

Cohorts bind warriors to a leader through oaths. Racing, martial contests, storytelling, and priestly counsel are central traditions. Their longstanding conflict with Elves remains part of the setting.

A living work of stone

Dwarf

Thurin’s creations are living stone, with gemstone eyes and bodies marked by cracks and chips. Their compact forms, beards, endurance, and craft traditions are more distinctive than the generic image of a short human smith.

Historical race illustration of Dwarf

Dwarfholds choose Thanes by merit and debate in a Hall of Voices. Forgecraft, mining, masonry, symmetry, and song link their communities. Their lore treats all Dwarves as members of one ancient brotherhood.

The splendor of a fallen empire

People & culture

Art, music, magic, and imperial pride coexist with exile and resentment. Accounts of the Deathless Empire explain their conflicts with Humans, Centaurs, and the creatures once held in bondage.

Old giant blood, human lives

Half Giant

Half Giants are Humans whose distant giant ancestry becomes visible in exceptional size and strength. They are not usually the direct offspring of a Human and a Giant, and their appearance reflects their human family.

People & culture

They generally adopt their human community’s customs rather than one shared Half Giant culture. Northern clans often prize their strength; stories include champions, ambitious warlords, and loyal companions.

Many peoples, countless ambitions

Human

Humanity is culturally and physically varied, with kingdoms, clans, free cities, and magical traditions. Its history includes bondage under the Elvish Empire, rebellion, Cambruin’s rise, and the fragmentation of his realm.

Historical race illustration of Human

People & culture

The People article names Ethyreans, Invorr, Irydnu, Horwathi, Gwendannen, and Taripontor, plus the legendary lost Anomani. These are cultural histories, not seven additional playable races.

Use varied complexions, hair, builds, and regional clothing. Northern, southern, steppe, woodland, royal, and maritime traditions give different starting points for equipment and heraldry.

People & culture

Clans and tribes follow leaders whose strength they respect. The Ways account emphasizes that followers may leave: allegiance is framed as a choice, in opposition to their history of magical enslavement.

People & culture

The Ways account connects their emergence to Maelstrom and the Rise of Chaos. Devotion to the Dark Lords, deception, and cult leadership recur, while their ultimate origins remain disputed.
